Oz Talk

I nearly fell off my chair yesterday when the postman arrived!

He brought with him some fantastic, if unexpected news! I have been made an Officier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole by le Ministere de l’Alimentation, de l’Agriculture et de la Peche… (along with Catherine Deneuve (yes!) and Louis Pasteur…

Here is a picture of the certificate, there is a medal to come too!

Dear Oz, it’s about time you were “Sir” Oz. French approval is all very well but Her Majesty would be well advised to place the flat of her blade on your shoulder. There can be no other that has served the topic and substance of wine so well in these Islands. When I left a (errmm) newspaper we both worked for, you scattered Chilean, Venezualan and Bulgarian offerings amongst my leaving gift which changed my view for good. For that alone you deserve a medal.

Congratulations! What wine did you drink to celebrate?
