Oz Clarke (fresh from spinning his Pavilion Books editor Fiona Holman round the dance floor) tells Ray O’Connor from International Wine Challenge what it means to him to win their 2009 ‘Personality of the Year’ Award.
Absolutely fantastic news! The Oz and James series was my introduction to the glorious world of wine and British beer! Having only just caught up with the last series, I am glad that the long drought without a brand new series is being broken. Roll on the Oz and James roadshow – wherever it goes!!
Through DVD just revisited the 1st series of Oz and James, travelling around France. The Burgandy episode brings back memories as many years ago I’ve sat on that wall, on the crossroads where they discussed terroir, Montrachet and then steal a grape from the vineyard. There is an excellent hotel and restuarant called Le Montrachet just down the road at Puligny Montrachet – highly recommended.
Where next: well it has to be Italy or Australia but bring back the chemistry of Oz & James!
Where to next? A road trip through the Colorado Rockies (perhaps in a classic MG?), staying in the many amazing mountain towns and Denver downtown, and sampling the titanic microbrew and micro distillery “scene” and exploring the extremes of prewpubs to tiny distilleries, to the behemoth that is Coors. Great American Beer Festival comes to mind…
Is there a list available of the drinks sampled in the drink to britain series. I’m planning a few evenings in the pub, following the boys and tasting along.
