Wine of the Week

26th March 2007

2003 Chardonnay, Allandale, Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia, £9.99, Wimbledon Wine Cellar

Full, rich, classic Hunter style Chardonnay, with a leathery, nutty, smoky toffee smell and then a big broad texture when you taste it. Lanolin, syrup, a beeswaxy weight – and that leather and smoky toffee flavour keeps on right to the end. It's an old style of Chardonnay, but it's very good.
