2003 Chianti, Casa Laora, Tuscany, Italy, £3.49, Aldi
You don't expect Chianti to be a gentle, juicy Lucy kind of wine – and this one isn't. But it isn't the kind of iron filings battery acid that cheap Chianti can be. In fact, it's almost soft for a Chianti, but you'll have to gird yourself up for a mouthful of stewed strawberry and tomato mixed with a splash of balsamic vinegar soothed by cream toffee and a handful of herbs. Mmmm. That sounds like Chianti! Taken from Oz Clarke's Wine
