2005 Beaujolais, Domaine Chatelus de la Roche, Burgundy, France, £7.10, Roger Harris Wines
Ah, Beaujolais as it was born to be. It's not sophisticated, thank goodness. There's nothing sharp and thin about this. Nothing stewy and sullen. Just the sheer delight of gorgeous juicy drink-me-quick red fruit, a rush of peach and red plum and strawberry with a mouthwatering apple peel rasp and a feeling that the wine ran over a bed of dry stones on its way to the bottle.
