2000 Meursault Premier Cru Les Perrières, Jean-Michel Gaunoux, Burgundy, France, £29.45, Lay & Wheeler
I wouldn't normally be encouraging you to spend £29.45 on a bottle of wine, but sometimes a classic with a hefty price tag comes along and I think perhaps they've earned it over the generations. If you want to know why people make a fuss about Meursault, the beautifully blalanced oatmeal and acdity and hazelnut cream flavours of this still-evolving white Burgundy will give you some idea.
