2002 Shiraz, Howcroft Vineyard, Limestone Coast,
Shiraz grows all over Australia and the wines come in numerous different styles. So it's nice when a new area starts to make waves. The Limestone Coast spreads across the bottom of South Australia, and it's packed with limestone, one of the grapevine's favourite soils. This Shiraz is beautifully ripe, with lots of licorice and toffee and plum syrup richness splashed with spices, but the final effect is appetizingly dry.
