2002 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur lie, Château de la Mouchetiere, Loire Valley, France, £4.99, Budgens
This reminds me of why Muscadet used to be such a delightful and popular summer drink. It has a bright appley fruit, a soft cream and nut yeastiness from spending time on the yeast lees (that's what 'sur lie' means) and is just a very pleasant summer white. That's all it ever set out to be.
