Wine of the Week

10 Year Old Aged Tawny Port, Portugal, £10.99, Marks and Spencer

Attractive, soft, mellow port, which is just what you want from a tawny style. It's spent 10 years in a barrel, softening, smoothing out rough edges and losing its angry colour so that just a russet blush remains. The long oak aging hasn't quite got rid of a slight blackcurrant leafiness, but there's enough rich plum and honey, hazelnuts and brown sugar syrup for the leafiness to be quite welcome.
