nv Cuvée Napa Rosé, Mumm, Napa Valley, California, 12.5% ABV
Sainsbury’s, £11.99
Well, praise the Lord. Cuvée Napa Rosé is back on form. At last. In the early 1990s this wine led the
battle against overpriced, overhyped, under-flavoured Champagnes. It then went into inexplicable decline
for more than a decade. But it’s back. Hallelujah. It isn’t completely dry – California fizz rarely is – but it
has a soft, come-hither apple flesh fruit with the oily acidity of lemon zest and just a hint of scent. And that’s a good drink.
