2002 Old Vines Garnacha, Campaneo, Campo de Borja, Aragon, Spain, £5.99, Sainsbury's
There are an awful lot of old vines in the byways of Spanish wine that have just been sitting there for generations waiting for someone to put them to good use. The word is out, luckily, and winemakers are cooing over the quality of these long-neglected jewels that pulsate with rich blackberry and strawberry fruit yet have enough herbs and tannin to satisfy even the most serious-minded drinker.
