9th April 2005
2003 Shiraz, Snake Creek, South Eastern Australia
Most cheap Australian wine nowadays tastes sweet – which isn't surprising, because they've started copying the Californians and leaving sugar in the wine. But this is refreshingly dry, with good plum fruit, a bit of spice, a bit of toffee softness – and a touch of bitter tannin to sharpen your palate. Taken from Oz Clarke's Wine
