17 November 2003 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon, Condé,Stark-Condé Wines, Stellenbosch, South Africa £14 Tanners This Cabernet, from the gorgeous Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch, has a beauty to it the old Cape reds – hard and mean and grumpy of mien – simply wouldn't be able to relate to. It oozes blackcurrant ripeness and has a milk-fed fatty flesh to it, but this is cut so sensitively by acidity and backed by such black depth that the balance is perfect. Taken from Oz Clarke's Wine
