2001 Minervois, Les Vieilles Vignes de Château Marais Minervois has been reinventing itself for a generation now, and it's brilliant wines like this that make all the effort worthwhile. What a scent! It's like a violet-scented Roger & Gallet soap! What fruit! Deep, ripe blueberry and damson which will turn richer and sweeter and more blackberryish in 2 or 3 years. And good grippy tannin too, before the violet scent wafts you off into red-wine reverie. Taken from Oz Clarke's Wine
