2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, Winemaker's Selection, Veramonte, Maipo Valley, Chile, £6.99, Somerfield
Good, classic Chilean Cabernet. The Maipo Valley near Santiago is historically the best place to grow Cabernet, and this wine shows why: dense, serious texture and a fair thwack of tannin, but soaring above it all the sweet, sun-ripened rich blackcurrant fruit of Chilean Cabernet on top form.
